The gas rings have worn showing a gap of 3/32" when fitted to the cylinder bore. The scraper rings were partly choked with carbon resulting in a slightly higher oil consumption. All the bearings were in excellent condition with the exception of the centre main bearing (bottom half) which had cracked. With regard to the oil, a certain amount of sludge had collected in the tappet chamber and front cover, but the general condition of the interior of engine was good. The engine has covered 8,000 miles since the oil was last changed. -------- | ||
