c. to Hse.
RE FAILURE OF LUBRICATION OF PLANET BEARINGS ON "CONDOR".
With reference to BY18-P30-1-20, Mr. Day has prepared schemes and is instructing the first six engines off the experimental contract to be modified in such a way as will provide, we believe, adequate lubrication for these bearings. We think this work should be put in hand at once, at least for the six experimental engines, and in the meantime Mr. Day will forward to Mr. Royce particulars of the scheme, telling him what we are doing and asking for approval of the scheme in the event of the tests being satisfactory. In view of this failure and the consequent alteration, it is desirable that the work in hand on the Condor for the main production contract, should not be proceeded with as far as these points are concerned.
