SECRET x7770 To E.E. at WW. from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c to Sir Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}4/T.19.1.29. Dear Mr. Elliott, Referring to Hsl/T16.1.29 re SS.{S. Smith} car, of which you have already received a copy. You will see that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is most anxious to get another car to France with the improvements, so that it can be a model of what is proposed to manufacture. There are a good number of items which require attention, and we are wanting instructions for several of them, I eblieve, from you. I think the date proposed to have this car ready (14th Feb) is too long, and we ought to aim at getting it away the first week in February, because I am sure you will know that now the Board are agreed the SS.{S. Smith} is going into manufacture, and you know how much we at Derby have burned our boats, inasmuch as we have gone to the limit in waiting for material etc.. This note is to urge upon you to see to it that we get particulars from WW. as quickly as ever it is possible. It would be nothing short of a disaster if we failed now to make really good in the limited time we have. I know you will realise this, and I thank you very kindly for the help I know we are sure to get from you. Yours sincerely. (Sgd) A.{Mr Adams} Wormald. | ||
