Mr. J.M. Lessells, who is Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Massachussets Institute of Technology, has become a Consultant to the Company. Mr. Lessells is an expert on problems relating to the mechanical properties of materials, including testing and theoretical investigations; and is very closely associated with many American Research Institutions dealing with this class of work. He is particularly conversant with the research work carried out in the Laboratories of the Westinghouse Company, the General Electrical Company, and of course the M.I.T. We are particularly anxious to avail ourselves to the utmost of his knowledge, experience and associations, and we should not hesitate to consult him should any problems arise which come within his scope. It has been arranged that he will send us a bi-monthly report of any developments which he considers will be of interest to us. In order to avoid the confusion which would arise should several people write to Mr. Lessells directly, it has been arranged that Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LS will deal with all correspondence between him and this Company.
