x8762b To Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/FHA. from EFC. EFC6/T15.12.26. RE BATTERIES. In additional reference to your Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/FHA1/EW3.12.26, and in particular to the other two cases of battery failure therein mentioned, viz. 37-RC{R. Childs}- Bullock and 76-HC McConnell, and the two letters from the Exide Co. in connection therewith. We are of the opinion that the two reports from the Exide Co. are rather more vague than is desirable, i.e. that more details of the actual nature and reasons of failure might have been given. Should you have further cases, provided they are not too numerous, we shall be pleased at any time to make an examination, similar to what we have done in the case of 25-MC - Lord Rochdale. The failures of course may have been due to overcharging as reported by the Exide Co. but we do not feel quite satisfied that this is the sole reason of the failure of the cells which are referred to.
