-2- To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} July 8th, 1916. Another point we have noticed under this heading is that the trouble may only occur in certain cylinders, in which there is a bias in the distribution of the petrol and which are the weak cylinders - It may occur, therefore, with certain patterns of certain individual induction pipes. Mr Hives, after reading this memo, find out whether he can confirm the suggestions that can be best done by experiment on the test plate. In conclusion, any car which has a carburetter which occasionally gives a strong mixture never gives this fault, and neither have we been troubled with it on the cars since we had the mixture control on the steering column, which is naturally frequently put over to strong for slow running.
