PETO & RADFORD. CONTINUATION 2. E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fowler Clark Esq., 9th March 1927. X8660 With regard to my car, I must say that I thought the very reduced dynamo output would result in the battery gradually running down, but although the car has been used quite a lot in Town and left standing about with the lights on I cannot see any diminution in the activity of the battery as regards operating the starter on a cold morning or the brightness of the lights and general kick, but I have not made any reliable test as to gravity and volts etc. but I feel perfectly certain that it is in a fully charged condition. X2894 Re the tungsten points, I must say that these are now doing all right and are not pitting and are doing very much better than the original platinum points, though the third set of platinum that I had, which were taken off to fit these tungsten ones were also doing extremely well up to the time of their being taken off. I still have a feeling that I prefer the platinum points, but in view of the above it is difficult for me to give you any justification for doing so. X4652 My car is, as you know, kept in a garage with several others. It is the only 40/50 but there are three 20's which live there and Watson, who looks after the cars, told me to-day that the platinum points on these 20's require much more frequent trimming up and attention than the ones on my car. Yours sincerely, G.R.N. Minchin | ||
