-2- PIERCE ARROW CONTD.

STEERING.- Good as far as the suspension of the car allows.
GEARBOX. - An excellent silent third, reasonably easy change even from 2nd. to 3rd.
BRAKES. - Quite good.
CLUTCH - Moderate, inclined to jagger.
ENGINE PERIODS - The engine was rough for a straight 8., having slight crank periods at 27 and 40 M.P.H. The car appeared to be on the verge of a master period at 70 M.P.H.
CONSUMPTION - We took the distance covered on a measured gallon at 40 M.P.H. It was 11.2 M.P.G.

This car shewed much more stamina than the MARMON.

After half a mile all out however the engine exhibited signs of a falling off in power. We did not, therefore, attempt any sustained high speeds. The consumption is what must be expected if such low gear ratios are used. We think that Rolls-Royce fuel economy is still in advance of the average in view of the engine size.
