NOISE CAUSED FROM PEDAL MOVEMENT P.11.

This is a liable complaint with Diamond engine mounting, caused from the increased torsional movement of the engine when the pedals are supported between the engine and the frame.

We have realised for some time that this movement is noticeable on some cars and are carrying out tests to eliminate it (a) by limiting the torsional movement of the engine considerably, and (b) by making the pedals cantilevered from the frame.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has complained of a tapping noise on the floor-boards on 58-GN. This was found to be the clutch pedal, and was cured by inserting a piece of rubber in the board. On bumpy roads due to the movement of the engine the pedal was osilating up and down on its idle movement which is allowed for when wear takes place on the clutch.linings.

We consider it unlikely for a customer to complain of pedal movement as long as it does not cause a noise, and we therefore consider it important that the noise be eliminated.

We suggest either a piece of rubber inserted in the floorboard, or a light spring to hold the pedal off the board.
