X 4196. X 9770 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M20.2.23. SECRET. E.A.C. X.4196. [struck through] I shall be going to London possibly on Thursday next week, and amongst other things we would like to fix up, would be how soon to put in hand any experimental bodies for EAC. you may require. I shall be seeing BJ. and would like to know if you would wish me to endeavour to fix up to draw and shew the bodies on a 40/50 chassis, having the frame packed up to shape with wood, and modified bonnet and radiator. We have the preliminary body sketches ready, and as soon as we have fixed up means to secretly discuss them, we can go ahead. This 40/50 chassis so modified could have an experimental name, such as "40/50 Template chassis". Perhaps you would like to let us have your views on this matter, before I go.
