Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}10/JH.3.10.40 - 2 - 9. The front end of the rear spring, being under the frame, is virtually a fixed limitation. The height of the rear eye is controlled by quantities outlined in '8'. It is impossible to provide a tension shackle of reasonable length to approx. the constant periodicity with varying load without imperilling the ground clearance. It was agreed to use a ling compression shackle which will give equivalent results and provide an easier and lighter construction. 10. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GB. will go ahead with projects of the front and rear spring fixings of the rear springs so that we can determine the shape of the frame side member.
