BRAKE STOP LAMP SWITCH. In our report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.6/KW.4.1.34, we referred to certain improvements which we considered were necessary to the original design of the above switch, to R.R. Scheme 449, as a result of our experimental tests. The above improvements have now been tested as instructed under R.R. Scheme 550. A sample switch was again operated intermittently as before for 230,000 times. This is 50% more than the test given to the original switch. At the conclusion of this test the contacts were carefully examined and were found to be in excellent condition. There were no signs of burning, and the wear on the contacts was extremely small. We consider this switch in its present condition to be a very satisfactory design for all our chassis. A similar switch is fitted to a Bentley experimental chassis, and also will be fitted to the 10,000 mile test chassis for further confirmatory tests. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
