Noise Insulation on 3rd.SpectreCodename for Phantom III 3 S.I.(32EX.)

It is proposed to try the following features with a view to reducing the amount of noise in the body of the above car.

CHASSIS

Dash Board. The dash-board to be insulated with one thick layer of Seapak, plus a layer of 1in. felt, finally covered with a layer of black fibre after the manner of the Bentley.

Chassis Floor and Foot-boards. Aluminium boards as on LeC 3923 without the rubber top coating and the limpet underneath. The boards to be covered in 1in. felt on top and round edges stuck on. Carpet to be bound on to the top of a mat consisting of ½ in.felt covered with a layer of thin rubber to which it is to be stuck, the felt to be protected on the underside by means of a sheet of cloth. The whole will be leather bound on the edges.

BODY

Body Panels, Scuttle, Door and Boot Panels. All the panels to be lined with felt ½ in. thick stuck on, with the exception of the door panels, which should be treated with Silento felt of standard thickness if this is water-proof, or failing that, some sort of anti-drumming cement. The walls and roof of the boot may be lined finally with leather cloth, and the floor with linoleum or rubber matting.

Body Front Floor. Body front floor to be covered on top and round the edges with ¼ in. felt.

Rear Floor and Foot Wells. These to be lined with ¼ in. felt firmly stuck on with rubber solution or bituminous cement. The rear carpet to be bound integral with a mat consisting of ½ in. felt stuck on a layer of thin rubber protected on the underside with a cloth lining.

Rear Seat Board. The base of the seat below the tool drawer is to be of sheet aluminium swaged to
