To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} From E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to E.H. " " HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} " " HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [STAMP: ORIGINAL RECEIVED 09 NOV 1921] 3 X4247 X4091 RE "GOSHAWK" GEAR BOX PLUG AND GENERAL PLUG DIMENSIONS+ We send you herewith drawing Loc.1477 which will give you particulars of the drain plug in the bottom of the "Goshawk II" gear box. This drawing also gives the general proportions of a series of plugs of this type from ¼" to 1¼" diameter, in steps of .125" on the diameter of the thread. In accordance with Mr. Royce's wishes, would Production D.O. please make a sheet giving an actual scale picture of each size of plug, and also stating the general proportions. This sheet will be used by us to judge whether all of the plugs are satisfactory, and so the illustrations should therefore be accurate. The sheet should also be suitable for inclusion in our standard reference books. When referring to a list of parts, it is much more useful to have a scale drawing of each particular part than one common illustration and a list of dimensions. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
