Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.
Dear Sirs,
NEW DESIGN CAR SPRINGS
With reference to the above and your letter dated the 19th August we have pleasure in enclosing general design details to cover the specification given on your blue print R.M. 735.
The design is based upon Cold Rolled Bar Material as described in your letter.
Regarding lubrication we would propose to Cold Roll the Bar Material having a central groove for the passage of the lubricant.
The groove would be closed at the plate ends by cold indenting on the reverse side and the plates would be drilled through the groove for the passage of the lubricant to subsequent leaves, which has been clearly illustrated.
We regret that we are unable at the present time to offer our patent grooved section steel owing to war conditions.
Our reply to your letter has been held up pending the receipt of details for the larger car springs referred to in your letter and we can only judge that you have not proceeded with these.
If you desire us to supply a few sets of these springs we should be glad to look into this possibility upon hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
SAMUEL FOX & CO. LTD.
