Origin. To prevent cover working loose. To make an oil-tight joint.

Experimental Test Report.
Fitted to 12-EX, 10-EX and tested on unit test bed. It is fitted with a felt pad which prevents the oil leaking out and down the cyl. walls. It has a definite load holding it down by spring under the thumb nuts.

Road Test Report.
There has been no trouble with cover working loose on 12-EX and 10-EX and cyl. walls have been free from oil leaking from cover during 1000 miles test. This is an improvement with regard to damping tappet noises.

A Scrap and replace at all costs, including Chassis already delivered to Customers.
B Scrap and replace on Chassis in Works.
C Scrap present stock and replace on all Chassis not yet handed to test.
D Use existing stock Alteration effective on future Chassis.
