We understand that you have dismantled the engine unit from the chassis No.B.72.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}, which is going to be sold to Mr. Cunningham.

As this unit is going to be fitted with the high compression cylinder head we consider you should short test the pistons and examine them carefully, particularly with regard to the top of the gudgeon pin bosses, to ensure that no cracks have taken place. We believe you chalk test pistons as we do at the factory which is the best way of observing signs of failure. Should any cracks be discovered in these pistons they should be replaced by a set of Aerolite.
