SECRET. VOL.L. 650. S/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/MN.9.2.37. To HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Copy to EE. HSR. RWC. J.E.L id. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} ****************** Wraith II Side Steering Tube. It is suggested that on the joint of the front end of the Wraith front side steering tube, N.Sch.4837, the internal hexagon might be dispensed with and we agree to this. On N.Sch.5036 we show our suggestion. As it will be necessary to use a 'C' spanner on the castellations of the nut. F4400, we have increased the size of the slots in order that the spanner may be strong enough. The locking plate is modified to correspond. We have been asked why the rear end of the Wraith II side steering tube is not the same as Bentley. If one refers to N.Sch.4791 it will be noticed that all Bentley parts are called for with the exception of the ball and ball bearing pads and the guides. These special parts are necessitated by the ball being .937 on Wraith II and .875 on Bentley. The larger ball is demanded because the Wraith II is a larger car, but we have arranged to use the whole of the Wraith II rear joint on Bentley. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Att: N.Sch.5036. | ||
