COPY. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E/PSN.1/HP.11.10.33. re 1¾" RR. S.U. Carburetter for 20/25. Referring to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KT.5.10.33. we should like the following further tests to be carried out on your mock-up carburetter. (1) Investigation of general behaviour and starting with the petrol level set .500" below the top of the jet instead of .050" as at present. This is necessary to avoid flooding when the car is left standing on steep gradients. (2) Tests with a .031" dia. slow running jet and say .064" dia. throttle edge hole. The larger jet is to avoid the clogging which may occur with the smaller jet and it has been our experience that the larger suction hole gives more uniform slow running. (3) Full power tests to confirm that the induction pipe depression under these conditions is insufficient to operate the autovac. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
