ORIGINAL. SECRET. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M10.3.31. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY C. to HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} JAPAN 3. GEARBOX. X5310. Herewith we send prints of N. schemes 3241/2/3., final details of the gearbox casing and clutch pit, which have been sent to Derby to enable them to complete the pattern. As regards the clutch operating shaft on N. scheme 3242. we have retained the present 25HP. method of mounting the trunnion fork because it appeared to be less expensive than the P. 2. type, and has operated successfully on the 25HP. The dip stick and filling plug on N. sch. 3243. are existing P. 2. pieces, and replace the combined filler and level plug now used on the 25HP. which has been complained of by Derby on the ground of expense.
