[Handwritten: Uden Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/STD] DUMMY RADIATOR SHUTTERS - PHANTOM III. ? In reply to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.4/MH.{M. Huckerby}6.1.38., we have considered the alternative shutter mounting plates, shown on schemes PD.78 and PD.79., but consider that from the cost point of view there is little to choose between the two designs. In each case the main plate presents certain difficulties in manufacture, due to the displacement of metal which is necessary in order to provide a flat surface on which to mount the Shutters. The press tools required for scheme PD.78., are the more simple to produce, but there would be some danger of stretching the mounting plate in between the local indentations, and, taking into consideration the fact that Messrs. Marston's are likely to supply the complete unit, we think that scheme PD.78 should be instructed for the experimental chassis. 79 RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/S.Bannister. | ||
