valve formed with a port of which the circumferential length is equal to that of the inlet port and which registers with the inlet and exhaust ports in succession during rotation of the valve and a driving gear affording a cyclically-varying velocity-ratio and arranged and timed to drive the valve with a varying velocity which reaches its maximum in each cycle of the working piston in the said cylinder at or near the point at which the inlet port is in full register with the port in the valve, substantially as and for the purpose described hereinbefore. 4. In a four-stroke internal-combustion engine, a rotary valve and driving gear therefor, substantially as shown in the accompanying drawing. Dated this 18th day of July, 1941. RHW/JC. 8. | ||
