Technical, Piston Knocks in Post-war Chassis.

N. write us under date of 23rd. inst. as follows:-

"We think it is not quite appreciated by the Sales and Inspection Departments that we have a scheme in force at Cricklewood whereby piston knocks in post-war chassis can be cured without expense to the Company.

In most cases these knocks can be cured by pane-ing out the pistons when the cylinders are dismantled for periodical cylinder cleaning. We would therefore recommend that officials of the Company who are investigating complaints by customers of piston knocks in post-war cars, should as far as possible endeavour to arrange for such cars to come to us to have the knock cured when the cylinder cleaning is due. This latter operation being an ordinary running repair, is of course, properly chargeable to the customer when done after five to seven thousand miles running, and the piston knocks can be cured at the same time by the process mentioned above".

Please let me know if you agree with this.
