bottoming in the contact piece. We have frequently found difficulty in obtaining sufficient range of adjustment to give the correct pivot lean without recourse to filing the contact pieces to give more travel.

7. FRACTION OF PETROL PIPE UNION NUTS.

Kingsbury have experienced several fractures of the union nuts on the petrol pipes. In your By/Cgh{W Clough}4/G.16.11.34., you say that the material of these nuts is being changed from silver-bronze to mild steel. It is not stated however what action it is proposed to take on cars in service and we shall be glad to have your confirmation that it is intended only to change pipes where a fracture has actually occurred.
