Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SpectreCodename for Phantom III - Gearbox and Servo We understand that the position with regard to the experimental gearboxes for this car is as follows:- 1st Box. Now in the Vulture chassis. Has been previously described as the second box but is now to be called the 1st box. 2nd Box. About to be built. This is the box referred to in Hdy.{William Hardy}2/HP.1.11.34 as the third box, but is now to be called the 2nd box. We understand that the following features only, of the above specification will be incorporated in this box:- (1) Bearing surface for 3rd speed wheel formed solid with the shaft. (2) Modifications to the oil duct feeding the reverse shaft. (3) Drain plug for the front half underneath the box. (6) Modified selector lock housing. (7) Four dowel bolts. (12) Modifications to 2nd speed actuation shown by N.Sch.4207. (14) 2nd speed actuating lever and cam piece to be as G.81880 and G.81881, i.e. without a roller. We presume that the case hardened shafts and gears with hardened splines will be available for this box although | ||
