| GRY{Shadwell Grylls} - Have you ever heard any complaints? +228 Pm. To Mr. from HDY.{William Hardy} C. Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ds. RHG Gear Lever Reverse Stop. - All Cars. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has suggested that a stronger spring for the reverse stop would be an improvement. We accordingly give particulars of an extra spring that can be inserted in the existing space as we cannot materially increase the present spring without providing more space. The existing spring (GB.841) gives loads of 6 and 9.5 lbs, in the normal and compressed positions. We suggest an extra spring of mean diameter .250" wire .032" maximum corrected stress 110,000 lbs/sq.in. (uncorrected 83,000) normal load 2.3 lbs max load 4.8 lbs. Total loads become 8.3 lbs and 14.3 lbs - increase = 38% and 59%. HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
