X.3719. RE TRIALS CAR FOR THE AMERICAN COMPANY.

It has occurred to us that there are several other items which we consider should be added to this chassis if the fitting of such is a practicable proposition without delaying delivery, even although the parts are not yet standardised as follows:-

6. Quantity gauge for rear petrol tank. The call for lever gauges on American cars has been so insistent X.3451. that if we can fit the Simms vertical type of magnetic gauge, properly calibrated for our tank, without causing any delay of the chassis, this should be done.

7. Improved scheme of oil supply to the engine gears - oil supply to the front edge of the gears so that the X.3473. whole width of the tooth is washed with oil and lubricated instead of only half as at present. We recommend that this should be fitted if we can get the pieces in time. (Now in the hands of the Explt: Dept.)

8. Improved scheme of wiring (Glover thin wires), if this can be tried experimentally, passed as satisfactory X.2778c. and fitted to this car without delaying delivery.

9. Thermostat control for water circulation. We do not think this should be fitted to the chassis for America X.3563. as it is a device which one could hardly expect to work satisfactory straight off. (Not yet tested out.)

10. Disc wheels, or wheels with demountable rims for straight-sided tyres. These are now in the hands of X.3725. the Expl: Dept: and work on same may not be sufficiently X.3482. far advanced to recommend fitting to this car.
