RE "CALCOTT" CAR. X3905.

The Calcott clutch withdrawing mechanism consists simply and solely of a fork, the ends of which are faced with fibre. These ends bear against a revolving collar on the clutch and exert the necessary pressure to push the cone out of engagement.

The trouble in connection with this mechanism is that the clutch pulls up in about three-quarters of a revolution, the speed of pulling up at the same time varying considerably with the lubrication.

It is proposed to insert in between the fork and the revolving collar, a washer of fibre and a washer of steel, so as to be able to retain some lubrication. Would you kindly therefore supply a fibre washer .062" thick and a steel washer .100" thick to the inside and outside diameters shewn -

[Diagram of a washer with an outer diameter of 2.750" and an inner diameter of .957"]

Soft steel will be quite all right with the latter piece.
