HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK.5/B.15.2.39. WRAITH BUMPER CHASSIS. We have been bumping the front end of the above chassis for the purpose of testing an experimental spot-welded front pan. The first failure occurred after 4 1/2 hrs. and on your advice a new pan was fitted. After 1 1/2 hrs. this new one failed in an exactly similar position to the first one, i.e. cracks round the front bearing of the N.S. lower triangle lever. Since we are running the chassis primarily for testing the pan, we would like to know whether you desire a third one fitted and tested, or whether the above results are all you require.
