K R.{Sir Henry Royce} 235 a (100 T) (S.F. 846 6-8-19 G 2460) X. 3056 28.1.20 X3740 - 25.E.X. Chassis. 10,000 miles test. Contd. -2- and back. Car still running very well. X, 3751. Wednesday 28th. This morning on starting up from cold a slight piston knock was noticed when disappeare d so quicly I did not have time to locate it. The ball joints of cross steering tube are just beginning to shew signs of wear, also those of the shock absorbers. Both foot and hand brakes are very good, though while the foot brake is very silent in action the hand brake is not so quiet and makes rather a harsh noise. The noise from rear axle is neither better nor worse and the axle is still retaining oil alright. The radiator is still quite good and shows no signs of a leak. The power pressure pump is very good. The starter motor has not given the slightest trouble and always starts up the engine from cold quite easily. The diaphragm of the Klaxon is now badly split and requires renoewing. The mileage for the week is 607 making the total (since leaving works) 2203. Petrol consumption for the week 265 litres. T.H. Maddocks. | ||
