I am sending you herewith leaflet showing the Millennium brake shoe fixing, which avoids the necessity for rivet holes on the working faces of the brake shoe, also a copy of their letter of the 15th inst. in which they point out that they have patented a method for reinforcing brake drums made in cast iron by means of a high tensile steel band wound on to the drum under tension and secured.

We are sending this, because it would to some extent overcome R's objection to the use of cast iron drums which when made in chromium iron certainly appear to give the best braking conditions for any material we know of.

We are enclosing a photograph showing a banded brake drum when under load, with a jack operating internally on the drum. Alongside of it is a photograph of the same part unbanded.
