OUR REF. IM/GR{George Ratcliffe}

11th January 1929.

Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
Experimental Department,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

For attention of Mr. Robotham.

We beg to confirm the visit of the writer and the engineer from the Solex Research Dept. to your Works and thank you very much for the courtesy and facilities afforded them in carrying out tests on your 40/50 HP Phantom with the special Solex carburettor.

It is noted with interest that you regard the figures obtained in respect of acceleration, general power and flexibility as very promising and that the functional points to which you wish further attention are -

(1) Slight flatness at approximately 30 m.p.h. calling for medium throttle metering correction and

(2) That you wish such modifications carried out as will enable reversion to the more powerful 34 choke setting without interfering with the present low speed "snap" acceleration and flexibility.
