XSHWO De. c.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c.H.J. BY5/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 11.4.27. SPRINGS - 40/50 HP. & 20 HP. Referring to R1/M.5.4.27. we take it you will supply us with a design for a rivetted-on clip to take the place of the proposed modification to the woodhead which is under consideration by Messrs Firths. This is of course the first instance that the separate clip rivetted to the plate has been definitely agreed to by R; It was discussed and pressed for by myself at my visit a year ago, in connection with an attempt to get the manufacture of the springs entirely in woodheads' hands, but at that time R.{Sir Henry Royce} could not make up his mind to adopt any of the clips put forward, and a decision was definitely arrived at to adopt the Firths-Julien solid forged clip which is fitted to the springs on the 20 HP. car now starting a 10,000 miles test in France.
