To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} V/7535 P Hsl/LGL.12.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' BATTERY BOX. We have already reported upon the inaccessibility of getting the battery out of the box. There is another difficulty - viz - the examination of the battery for topping up and checking the specific gravity of the acid. This can only be done by first withdrawing the front battery out and then pulling the rear battery forward. We cannot expect an owner to go to all this trouble as a weekly routine. There is also every possible chance, when withdrawing the covers off the battery, of shorting the battery by means of the holding down screws. The rear screws, cannot be taken out there being insufficient room between the floor boards, and without careful manipulation the screws catch the steel cross member of the subframe and cause a short circuit. It would appear necessary to have a loose board in the rear seat to give access to the rear portion of the battery. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
