BENTLEY 50. REAR AXLE.

Herewith we send FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}91 arrangement of the rear axle, centre casing.

Details can be made directly from this drawing.

In addition to the ratio shewn on FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}92, we require another ratio 9/37 putting on order forthwith.

At RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}'s request we have retained the back inspection cover. Two types are shewn, and as the alum. die cast type seems likely to prove most acceptable, we suggest that alone should be detailed.

To economise in machining, we have deleted the double spigot on the L.H. side plate, believing that the centre casing is stiff enough not to need this additional support. It is considerably stiffened compared with present Bentley.

Alternative methods of mounting the universal joint driving flange are shewn, that shewing the Barber-Colman taper splines is at Works request, and if the machine is available, should be the one detailed.
