For the attention of L.F.Dyer, Esq.

Dear Sirs,

In reply to your letter of the 16th. we have looked into the question of the application of the Alta marine box to Mr.Hall's Phantom III unit.

We have overlayed the Alta drawing MC.1 on our arrangement drawing of the clutch housing etc. G.84537 which we enclose, and you will see that there are several fouls which have been coloured. Mainly these are the nuts fouling the clutch spring covers and the clutch actuating fork lever by the ball race housing.

Regarding the Oilite bush shown on MC.1 between the inner and outer shafts, we do not consider this is adequate to prevent oil leaking past and as suggested would include a felt washer and oil return thread.

The question of machining the splines in a special first motion could possibly be arranged, failing your being able to get this done outside.

Owing to the pressure of other work, however, it is very difficult to get any non-programmed jobs through.
