Dear Sirs, We beg to acknowledge and thank you for your favour of the 8th inst., instructing us to put in hand one "Don-Flex" Clutch Disc to our Blue Print L.690, which was returned. We have noted that you require the overall thickness of the centre portion, not to exceed .125". As requested we are pleased to give you our views regarding the merits of the cork inserts and we would explain that the corks are cut flush with the surface of the fabric and the corks remain in this condition throughout the life of the disc. 1. The corks ensure a flexible attachment of the fabric to the steel plates allowing the latter a certain degree of movement as they accommodate themselves to the mating surfaces. 2. The friction value is enhanced by the corks without impairing the smoothness of engagement and the spring pressure may be calculated to the value of .3 instead of the usual .25 co-efficient of friction. 3. The corks being flush with the surface obviate the need for recesses to collect dust and abrasive matter, as with metal rivets. cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
