EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ON 4 1/2 Litre Bentley.

With reference to your memo. Sr/VA.1/ET.29.4.36. in which you state that you are getting complaints of excessive oil consumption we would suggest that you use on these chassis the "L" section ring as used on 25/30. This ring is more likely to give you better results than merely changing the make of ring, furthermore you are likely to be misled if you ask for Wellworthy rings removed from Aerolite Pistons, we would point out that the Aerolite Piston is not supplied with Wellworthy rings but with rings of their own manufacture.

Wellworthy rings are standard spare rings as supplied to Depots for replacements

The "L" section ring is at present most likely to give you satisfactory oil consumption and should as on 25/30 chassis be fitted in the 2nd compression ring groove. The 25/30 "L" section ring will interchange with existing Bentley compression ring.
