BENTLEY III CARBURETTORS. Further to our memo. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}9/JH.28.4.38. attached is the latest information from the S.U. Co. Birmingham. We have experienced a certain amount of trouble with the die-cast material of the H.4. carburettor. In mounting carburettors on induction pipes, distortion of the flanges has caused throttle spindles to bind, thus necessitating the use of Vellumoid instead of our usual C. & A.{Mr Adams} washers. Also we know that this material wears badly in the throttle spindle bushes. The attached drawing shows our latest recommendation of a cast-in steel bush. Both these alterations should only cause the price of the complete carburettors to be increased by a small amount, as the alterations will constitute alterations to their standard product, and will not therefore require individual attention on a separate production line. Will design please note these modifications and incorporate them on their scheme drawings. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} | ||
