R.R. 493 A (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-23). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} X4214 EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expt. No. 4214 REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG16.1.24. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} HISPANO CAR. Attached herewith are particulars of parts on the above car. It will be seen by the figures we give that the clutch pedal pressure is considerably lighter than our 20 HP. The clutch, it will be remembered, jaggers slightly when picking up. This is a similar fault to that we had on the 20 HP. clutch before we set the driving plate to form a spring. Having the flat plate enables them to work with less movement. So far we have not been able to get a H.P. curve of this engine. We have had it on the dynamometer but one of the pistons seized. We have since dismantled the engine and eased the pistons. They are the usual type solid trunk aluminium pistons. There are bad piston knocks when the engine is running especially when cold. The car is now running again. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} The figure we gave in our previous report that the steering was .750" off centre-point - that figure was obtained with normal inflated tyre on the car - the figure in drawing is a full dia. tyre. | ||
