To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X1027 R1/M6.10.24. RE. SPANNERS. X.1027. X.4083. With regard to the sample spanners made to our LeC. design, I think these are very nice, and do not see any way in which they can now be improved except by somewhat reducing the thickness. I therefore recommend that the dies should be 'let' together whenever possible, and that the drop forgers should be paid by the piece, and not by the weight, so as to prevent as far as possible any growth in weight. We take it that the spanners you sent us repres- ent one set of the 40/50., together with one set of the 20 HP. equipment, as there are two of either size, and in two instances, three. The largest spanner of all, namely, the 11/16" I do not think is required, and was not intended to be included in the kit. We think that the large shifting spanner should be sufficient for all requirements above 1/2". MADE AT CROXLEY R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
