IMPROVED POWER OUTPUT CHINA.

It is now apparent that Japan III is a long way off. When it arrives it is going to need a lot of experimental development as it has an entirely new type aluminium cylinder block with steel liners. We are therefore left with the existing China unit for at least 18 months because it would not be worth while to produce Japan I with Japan III coming through.

We believe that we are in a position to get more power for the existing China engine without spoiling its smoothness because we now have -
(1) Flywheel tail bearing.
(2) The diamond engine mounting.

You have issued the details for both of these items and we now want the following pieces to prove the output on the China unit.
(1) The exhaust system recently sent through by A.W.
(2) Offset rockers with the necessary pedestals and push rods to increase the China Valve lift by .050" in exactly the same way as the pieces you gave us for Japan.

This also requires longer valves but we suggest that these should not have their length increased by more than .075" in this case. These high lift rockers have shown themselves to be well worth while on Japan and with the additional advantage that they can be fitted to existing engines.

The 3rd feature we hope to get is the horizontal type carburetter which M.S. are at present in process of designing.
