We have removed the weight and have slackened off the springs, supporting the tightening pulley arm, and find that the wheel spindle runs quite satisfactorily. The "pull to start and pull to stop" striking gear works well but would on another machine have the objection that you cannot employ it for revolving the work through a part of a revolution.

The water system so far, has not given any trouble and has been made without flexible hose, as you wished.

The travelling beam and countershaft require but little power to move them.

The quick return stroke of the Automatic Feed Arc gives a businesslike air to that portion of the machine.
