In connection with the above it has been found necessary to shorten the length of the Tachometer and Speedometer drive cables by two inches; also to Nickel Plate the speedometer drive flex similar to the tachometer flex. We have taken this matter up with Messrs. S.Smith & Sons, and as they have already produced 169 speedometer cables brass finished the cost of shortening will be 3/6d each - total £29.11.6d, and for the tachometer cables £27.13.0d. They point out that it is very difficult to nickel plate the brass cable, and would be more expensive to dismantle and clean out the grease, etc., than to supply new ones. As this would cost approximately £1. each, is it not possible to use up the present length of cables already made and thus save the cost of conversion? Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
