Dear Sirs,
We thank you for your letter ref.FGM/IFW of the 2nd. inst., and we note your remarks about the element of risk.
We have considered this matter at some length, and have tried to envisage circumstances in which the end portion of the worm thread could be heavily loaded at its thinnest section.
So far as we can see this cannot happen. The question really involves the amount of flexibility in the steering system, so we think the best thing would be for you to produce the cams to our sketch and we will then investigate the matter on our chassis.
If necessary we can easily reduce the length of the pendulum lever to eliminate the risk.
