Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 4th instant, and have now received the parts to your drawing N.Sch.4531, and have made up a bearing as shown outlined in red Suggestion "B" on drawing F.360106 enclosed. This bearing gives exactly the same deflection as your sample under a radial load of 100-lbs. If the loading is gradually increased up to 500-lbs. there is never more than .005" difference in the deflections of the two types of mountings. The special shape of the internal portion of the housing is necessary to prevent the end movement which would take place on a Silentbloc Bearing of this description where the width is so greatly out of proportion to the outside diameter. Suggestion "A" on the drawing shows a bearing which necessitates the machining of the housing to the shape shown and which would have to be sent to us for assembly, while in the case of Suggestion "B" we can supply you with the complete Silentbloc bearing to be a force fit in your housing which would have to be machined to the required dimensions. We shall be glad if you will let us know which of these two methods you prefer, and also if you wish the flexibility of the mounting to be the same as your present type, or whether you would like us to increase this which can be quite easily done.
