X.995 R1/G8.1.20. To Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. c. to Ck.{Mr Clark} X.995. - RE INSTRUCTION BOOK. --------------------------------------------------- Thank you for copy of the proposed appendix with reference to the electrical equipment. I should be pleased if Mr. Clark would continue to work upon it with a view to making it shorter, only saying exactly the words which are needed. I should also be glad to know if it will cut out any part of existing instructions, for instance, the new instructions with reference to the cells may be shorter and better than those already existing in the instruction book. The great risk with long descriptions is that they do not get read at all. The second point is that the description and illustrations appear to make the equipment look very complicated. We should be also glad to know how many cars this would refer to before moving on to the complete R.R. arrangement. I should also like Col. B arrington to counter-sign the copy sent to me as being the best description that Derby can submit for approval. We are sending the appendix back in case there are small modifications. In glancing over it I can see a few possibilities which I have no doubt you will find. R.{Sir Henry Royce} R R & A LTD (C'BY) 562 T. 001/V SEC B.B & S (B'HAM) 0869 | ||
