LEFT HAND PHANTOM II CHASSIS. Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/MJ20.5.30. the following is the position of the items appertaining to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Dept. numbered as in your memo :- (1) THERMOSTAT TO BE MADE DOUBLE ACTING. Scheme well in hand : expect to post this tomorrow. (3) MODIFIED CONTROLS. Schemes dealt with when in Derby. See Lecs 2789. 2790 (4) REARRANGEMENT OF PIPES. (OIL PIPES, EXHAUST PIPE FROM HOT SPOT, AND AIR VENT PIPES). No alteration required to oil pipes. Exhaust jacket pipe should be as Lec.2798. Air vent pipe doubtful - discussed in separate memo. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} In connection with this rearrangement of the piping it is proposed to move the petrol filter over to the other side of the chassis. We are dealing with this, and will endeavour to send through scheme this week. (5) MODIFIED CLUTCH FOR AUTO KLEAN. Scheme well in hand - expect to post this tomorrow. (11) MODIFICATION TO RESISTANCE FOR HALF CHARGE SCHEME. This does not require any design work but some experimenting to see how far we can cut down the lower charge without making the cutting in point too late. (13) INSTRUCTIONS AS REGARDS WHAT TYPE OF DIMMING SWITCH IS TO BE USED. We have not undertaken to supply a dimming switch in our specification of L.H. American chassis, but it was agreed to provide a suitable recess in the footboard bracket which would allow of a Bosch foot switch being flush fitted into the board. This was agreed at the conference in Derby with Oy. on the L.H. P.2. and as it is a frame job we are expecting it will be dealt with at "Carncha". | ||
