-2- Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} 1/MH.{M. Huckerby}15.1.40. (2) With two engines fitted the accessories are bad for accessibility and required all bringing to one side of the engine. A possible layout is:- [Drawing of two mirrored engines, each labelled with 'CARB' for carburettor and 'E' for exhaust.] Now this calls for one of the engines to be handed. (3) Aluminium and salt water being antagonistic, the cyl. head would be in Cast Iron and also the sump. We will find out about the special alums which are anti-corrosive, have heard about them from time to time. (4) Rubber engine mountings are becoming popular, an high rubber mounting is certainly worth a trial, the bottom of the triangular bracket being brought down and bolted to the usual bearers. (5) The exhaust manifold must be water jacketed. (6) The mechanical fuel pump will not always be needed, as in some cases sufficient gravity head can be obtained in the installation. | ||
