- 8 - Luggage grid. During the continuation of the test, this has not been in use. Rear springs, bearings & shackles. These are still in a good condition. Rear "Hartford" shock absorbers, to L.O.P. F.71600 These have been dismantled, & were found to be in a good condition. The poundage on the O.S. was found to have increased to 80 lbs., and the N.S. to 57 lbs. We have reset these at 55 lbs., and have found that this poundage is more suitable to the riding of the car. Electrical fittings. Distribution board & cut-out. Reynold cut-out contact points (gold & silver) & rigid fixed contact point p. Sch. 352. The cut-out has operated satisfactorily, & the contact points are in a very good condition. We have had no trouble with the remaining electrical fittings. Spare wheel carriers. O.S. to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sch. 2023. N.S. to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sch. 2015. These are still in a good condition. Both of these have remained secure during continuation of run. The wheels have also remained secure. As previously reported, the O.S. lends itself more readily for ease in dismantling the wheel. Body subframe, using subframe brackets F.72192, F.73239 to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sch. 2001/2. From an outside examination, the brackets appear to be in good condition. Two front temporary bolts fitted have again broken. We have now fitted two front bolts received from Derby. The subframe chatters where attached to brackets. This is more noticeable in the front than in the rear. Considerable side movement takes place, which at times causes bad knocking between the scuttle dash & the dashboard. The rear of the car is free from booming with cut-out closed, but when cut-out is open there is an unpleasant booming, which affects the passengers' nerves. Pedals. Improved accelerator pedal "B" type, to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sch. 2044. Clutch pedal to give required movement for "B" type clutch. Foot brake pedal. Pedals have operated satisfactorily. Condition of bearings is good. General examination of frame & fittings underneath the car. Tie rod brackets, diagonal stays & brackets, rear-road springs, main bearing supports, cross tubes & equalising shafts - these are all in a good condition. | ||
